About the event
Course Description: This course looks into the occurrence of clinician bias based on reading initial, intake information. Participants will be able to identify what is qualifying information and understand how to identify and parse through any initial biases prior to the first session. Topics such as safety, appropriateness, and self-reflection will be covered.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to recognize how intake forms, diagnostic labels, and referral notes provide limited and sometimes biased perspectives on the client.
Participants will be able to identify how unconscious beliefs and cultural assumptions can shape interpretations of intake information.
Participants will develop communication and assessment strategies that are open-ended and culturally humble to elicit necessary information.
