About the event
Course Description: This course dissects the intricacies of what is considered a dual relationship in the counseling setting, as well as discusses what the steps are following an identification of a dual relationship. Participants will improve their ability to identify a dual relationship and be able to properly discuss with and refer the client to a different provider.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to define dual relationships and understand their ethical implications.
Participants will explore and understand how dual relationships may impact transference, countertransference, and client autonomy.
Participants will develop strategies for managing unexpected dual relationships and understand when and how to consult, refer, or terminate.
