Course Description: This course considers the positive and negative effects of self-disclose, as well as looks into the times when self-disclosure is appropriate.  Participants will be able to identify when a boundary issue arises and be able to answer the who, what, where, why, and when questions of disclosing personal information.

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will be able to define and differentiate types of self-disclosure.

2. Participants will explore and understand the clinical purpose and potential benefits and risks of self-disclosure.

3. Participants will practice decision-making strategies that assess whether self-disclosure is in the client’s best interest.
