Course Description: This course studies the effectiveness acknowledgment of negative and painful feelings has on overall clinical outcomes. Participants will be able to increase comfortability in using a realistic approach to human feelings and experience, while using effective challenging, reframing, and refocusing techniques. Learning Objectives: Participants will understand how validating emotional pain can foster trust, emotional safety, and the therapeutic alliance. Participants will learn how to demonstrate active listening skills, attunement, and staying present when clients express emotional suffering. Participants will be able to assist clients in developing a coherent narrative of their emotional experiences. 3 CE hours. NBCC Content Area: Counseling Theory/Practice and the Counseling Relationship, Human Growth and Development, Social and Cultural Foundations NASW Content Area: Clinical/Direct Practice, Cultural Competence / Diversity / Equity & Inclusion, Social Work Practice Across the Lifespan Instruction Level: Beginner to Intermediate Embodied Training Institute has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP NO. 8001. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Embodied Training Institute is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs. This course is approved for NASW CE credits.
